Physical Description

Trezlin are the green, two-legged lizard people of Threa's temperate regions. Trezlin grow 1.4-1.7 m (4.6-5.6 ft) tall, which is a medium height compared to the other lin. Males and females grow equally large. Having a balanced build, their limbs are average in length and do not appear out of proportion when compared to a human. With a physique focused equally on strength and agility, they are well adapted to the versatile lands they call their home. All reproductive organs are hidden within the genital slit, which is located between the legs. A vent between tail root and genital slit allows the disposal of waste, both fluid and solid. Each finger is tipped with a short, sharp claw. Their heads are adorned with two medium-length horns, which are rather thick. The horns and claws are various shades of grayish green in color. Males and females only differ in their general shape. Females have thicker tail roots and sleeker faces, while males tend to have edgier faces and sleeker tail roots.

The hide of a Trezlin is covered in scales similar to those found on most lizards. Patterns consisting of thick and/or thin stripes adorn limbs, back, neck, head, and tail of them. How the stripes look and if they could even be considered proper stripes depends on a Trezlin's heritage; Trezlin hailing from northwest Threa have dappled, broken up stripes that could be mistaken for spots or splotches in some cases, Trezlin coming from the southwest have a more forked stripe pattern that reminds of tree branches, the northeastern Trezlin have solid stripes, and the Trezlin in the southwestern corner of the eastern half of the Temperate Zone have zig-zagged or wavy stripes. The primary color of Trezlin ranges from light green over to browns. The secondary color, so the color of the markings, always contrasts strongly with the primary one, and it is always either lighter or darker than the primary color, and is picked from the same color range. The underside of a Trezlin always has a very light color, ranging from tan tones to light browns. Scales do not make for good insulation, but they prevent that Trezlin bruise easily, and prevent that thorns or sharp leaves hurt them easily.

Ear holes on the sides of a Trezlin's head allow them to hear slightly less well than the average human, due to a lack of auricles. Their eyes, which may be blue, yellow, green, or brown in color, grant them average eye sight, and no night-vision.

Trezlin, despite being reptilian in appearance, are warm-blooded. Due to a lack of fur, they usually dress themselves in animal furs and hides to compensate, especially during the colder seasons. Nothing about the physical make-up of Trezlin gives them a special kind of resistance to neither cold, heat, or toxins.

Trezlin possess average human intelligence, and are usually quite eager to experiment and learn various things. Thanks to their wit and versatility they've managed to become the dominant species in the temperate regions of Threa. Simple proof of this is that they are the founders and majority populations of the Gren Kingdom, Treztown, and the Sokan Empire. Each of these nations differs a lot from the next; it is hard to pin a general behavior on Trezlin. In order to find out more about their culture and how they live, see the pages of the mentioned nations.

Reproduction and Development

Every sixth week, Trezlin females become fertile for a whole five days. Once impregnated, the egg will grow inside the female for roughly 56 days before being laid. Usually a Trezlin female lays between 1-2 eggs. Said eggs will hatch after another 112 days. The hatchlings are perfectly capable of crawling within a few moments, but speaking, walking properly, and grasping complex concepts remains outside of their intellectual reach for quite some time. After roughly half a year, the young Trezlin child is able to walk as upright as its parents. Once more than a year old, speech is slowly being utilized by them, and at one and a half years old, the hatchlings usually grasp the ability to speak relatively proper. Sexual maturity is reached at about 12 years old for females and males. The height of their physical condition is reached from 16 to 40 years, afterwards their physical condition begins declining slowly. Trezlin become around 50 to 70 years old, depending on their living standard.

Trezlin live in primarily in the temperate regions of Threa, so in the zone between the tropical rain forest and the taiga. On map of Threa, the regions primarly populated by Trezlin are called: Golden Woods, Sunlit Isles, Bronzed Frontier, Sheltered Basin, Ironhead Flatlands, the southern half of the Verdant Valley, and the Vandell Forest. A few Trezlin also live in the latter, but basically none live in the former. Shores and the deep inland areas are inhabited by the green humanoids, as long as sources of fresh water are present, so that they may found their settlements. The populations of the Gren Kingdom, the City State of Treztown, and the Sokan Empire consist mostly of Trezlin.

Trezlin are omnivorous. Meat gathered from hunted game and domesticated animals, fish caught in rivers and at the shores, and plant matter grown on farms and in gardens make up most of their diet.

Competition and Predators

Given that they live in fortified settlements and possess the technology to make weapons out of metal, Trezlin have no natural predator. A lone Trezlin out in the woods will be actively hunted by any predator, but a trained, armed Trezlin will be able to face most common threats. A whole group of trained, armed Trezlin is even capable of taking down a kul or other large predator. The biggest competition for Trezlin are simply other Trezlin and the other sapient races. Many armed conflicts have been waged by the green scaled lin.

Trezlin evolved from an ancient type of Sozlin that spread across Threa's north. The first Trezlin showed up in the eastern half of the temperate zone, where the Sokan Empire lies nowadays. From there they spread westward, pushing the Sozlin away from the inland rivers, forcing them to live at the shores.
